Shared Space

Site: Southend-on-Sea, Shared Space/Victoria Gateway, Essex

This installation was created on a site where skateboarders gather in Southend. The local Council have decided that this space is to be titled a 'Shared space', the council have made several adaptions to the site and it is becoming more and more difficult for the skateboarders to share this space.
The 'skateboard' sculpture to the statue became a fixed addition, With it being replaced by the public if the ties eroded or fell off. Due to press and public interest the local Council stated that they were happy to keep the skateboard sculptural attachment on the existing statue. It eventually disintegrated and disappeared.
